Sea-Tacky
In case you were dying to know what I’m up to, I’m chillaxing at the luxurious Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Gate C2K. The plane — which was supposed to leave Sea-Tac with me on it at 10:50 — hasn’t even arrived yet. Or maybe it has, but they’re refueling it? I can’t tell. Someone should invent a loudspeaker without a built-in marbles-in-the-mouth effect. Also, when I said “luxurious”, I really meant “still under construction”.
During my now–two-hour stint in the hallway waiting lounge (they literally appear to be building the seating area around me), I’ve heard at least two versions of “Somewhere In My Memory” and three different non-Muzak renditions of “Wonderful Christmastime“.
I’m not sure that I’ll ever be able to top last year for the sheer relief that will come from being home, but I’m getting close. It’s been over a week since we had hot, running water at my house. The power was out for two and a half days, and Laura and Dave and Scott are still without. The temperature, which peaks around 40 if we’re lucky, dips into the teens at night. More on this later.
EDIT: Boarding at 11:30.
