A. A. Woodhull
I’m fairly certain that this man is my great-great-great-great-uncle. Craziness.

I had a bizarre dream last night. I don’t exactly remember what the circumstances were that lead up to the situation (this is a dream, remember), but I found myself at a Reed-Arena–like place where I was supposed to be playing trombone with an ensemble for some kind of commencement or convocation ceremony. The first thing that made me nervous was that the TAMU Wind Ensemble was really good for some reason, and I haven’t really picked up my horn much in the last year (probably inspired by the guy I saw at the Underground with a trombone gig bag). Then I realized that I was on the wrong side of the Arena and was supposed to be with another group, so I walked over there — in the process, I realized that although I had a formal jacket on, I was wearing “suit-shorts” (imagine cutting a pair of tuxedo pants and hemming them up). It descended through layers of increasing absurdity as I realized that the jacket I had on was a long one that went down to my knees (probably inspired by JD’s “giant doctor” routine), that it was made out of the same kind of material as Dimitri’s couch, that I had somehow lost my shirt in crossing the Arena, and finally, that my shorts had fallen apart. Luckily, I was able to pull the long jacket around myself to prevent further embarassment, but people kept introducing me to their parents and wanting to shake my hand. Afterwards, I went and swam at the levitating pool complex (I’ll bet you didn’t know that we had one of those!), where I saw that the Hobbes crew was having a “midnight munchies” party. Around that time, my alarm went off, so I got up, unforwarded the phone, and went back to bed. My dreams after that point were blissfully benign ![]()
Where the best Aggies go…
I had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Underground today. I’m pretty sure that’s the first time I’ve done that since my first semester, and it’s the first time in recent memory that I’ve eaten three distinct meals ![]()
Confusion
The Battalion: “… yelling takes more than a strong stomach…”
Me: What kind of anatomy classes do they teach at this school?

Thus far this afternoon, I have:
- hung flyers
- done some RA paperwork
- eaten lunch at Sbisa with Reinhard
- installed new drivers for my graphics and capture cards
- picked up and swept my floor
- cleaned out my wallet
- sorted all of my change
- clipped my fingernails
- done an event planner
- written this entry
… but I still haven’t finished my research proposal. :-\

I’ve half-written a smattering of entries over the last few days, but none of them seemed to finish themselves. In my best alliterative sermon outline fashion, here’s a three-point wrap-up of my week:
- Procrastination — It doesn’t pay. I’ve decided that a good rule of thumb is that any given task will take me three times longer to complete than I anticipate (the depressing corollary is that this rule still applies even after it’s been taken into account). I’ve probably spent a good 6-12 hours a day working on assignments that were due this week, and I wouldn’t really consider any of them my best work.
Application: P^5 — Prior planning prevents poor performance - Photography — I put up some new albums in the gallery (Panoramas and Weekend in Oregon II). I really enjoy stop-motion and time-lapse photography, so I’m considering undertaking this project. It was a bit discouraging to see my exact camera is described as “not worth more than $30″, but I suppose I never expected technology to be a long-term investment.
- Perhaps — I should stop playing with homophones (I admit, this one is a stretch). Eye knowticed that wile righting essays and assignments this weak that I’d slipped “know” in for “no”, “Erins” four “Errands”, and maid a few other mistakes.
Application: Penchants for polyphonic palabras will pay off perpetually
Try as I might, I couldn’t come up with any points of application for my second item. I’m glad that it’s finally Friday!

Today was another one of those days — stayed up all night working on Pattern Recognition homework and still didn’t finish it. In the hopes that someone else will learn from my mistakes, I present the following:
Lessons learned (and re-learned) last night:
- Graduate homework assignments are hard — They take a long time too.
Actually, that’s all I’ve got.

My well-reasoned, strongly-held conviction that I was not going to buy the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD is melting away by the minute. Darn you “When Star Wars Ruled the World“, darn you glowing reviews, darn you people waiting in line at midnight, darn you $60 sitting in my pocket from returning a textbook. If I can just get past today, I think I might make it…

Does this graph make sense to anybody else? Because it sure doesn’t make sense to me. :furious:
Update: Everything fell into place after taking the ectoplasm into account like Jacob suggested.

WHOOP for Hart Hall being “recognized for historical importance to A&M heritage and for being [a model] for the Campus Master Plan.” I guess that explains all of the mysterious black monoliths markers that appeared around campus…
