G’night
Well, I got back a little while ago from my second annual Rumours Anti-time Run. Time for bed.

On this day in T.A. 3018, Frodo awoke at Rivendell, and Boromir arrived at nightfall.

Autumn Fires
In the other gardens
And all up the vale,
From the autumn bonfires
See the smoke trail!
Pleasant summer over
And all the summer flowers,
The red fire blazes,
the grey smoke towers.
Sing a song of seasons!
Something bright in all,
Flowers in the summer
Fires in the fall!
Robert Louis Stevenson
The only thing that I ever complain about living in Texas (not that I’ve ever lived anywhere else, mind you) is that we don’t get an autumn. By the time the leaves start changing (if they change at all) then the first cold snap has moved through and they all drop off in a week or so. I want to see mallorn.
Current mood: wistful

I have a God-shaped hole inside of me. Sometimes I’m more painfully aware of this than others, and one of those times is now. Psalms 25 is a great comfort, though:
“Show me the path where I should walk, O Lord; point out the right road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in You. Remember, O Lord, your unfailing love and compassion, which you have shown from long ages past. Forgive the rebellious sins of my youth, look instead through the eyes of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O Lord.”

There is definitely something wrong with this state. We need to see about getting it traded in for one with climate control.

Today was not one of the high points of my scholastic career. I stayed up all night finishing my 641 (graphics) project (antialiasing through mip-mapping and anisotropic filtering, in case you were wondering) only to realize about half an hour before it was due that it had a small error that made the whole thing fundamentally flawed. I ended up turning in what I had about 20 minutes late along with an explanation of where I thought that the problem was. So I skipped graphics lecture and started in on my 311 (algorithms) homework that was due the next period and I got about 3 out of the 10 problems finished. I got my first homework and some quizzes back and so far I’m pretty well off, but I’ll have to really be on top of things because of my deficiencies today. Went to badminton, which was rather exhausting, understandably. Came back and took a three-hour nap and woke up around 9.
Weekend wrap-up: Mom and Dad came down late Friday night and Mom went to Yell with me. Before that, Sabra, Jessica, Dimitri and I went to Kyoto Sushi for supper and had a good time. Sabra’s beef & chicken must have been prepared with other stuff though, because she started to have an allergic reaction (she can’t have shrimp). I think I had eel, crab, spicy tuna, snapper, and salmon. After that we stopped by the C-store and got ice cream, then went to see Finding Nemo at the MSC. Good times. I stayed up until 2:30-ish vacuuming and stuff. I got even less sleep than I expected, though, because the fire alarms went off in Hart at 4:00 and everyone had to evacuate until they discovered what the problem was. It was kind of fun in a surreal, “I can’t believe I’m outside and got woken up at four in the morning” way. Got up at 7:00 to get ready for my scholarship donors reception… the theme this year was “A Fair to Remember”, so they had a Ferris wheel set up in Reed arena and there were tables with snow-cones, cotton candy, hot dogs, sodas in glass bottles, etc. I thought it was a little cheesy at first, but it was fun. My donors from the Dallas A&M Club didn’t show up. Mom and Dad and I went to Sbisa after we got changed and parked the car, and Sabra and Jessica came by after a while and joined us. We headed to the game around 2:00 or so… the last two night games spoiled me, because I’d forgotten how unbearably hot and sunny it can get in the stands
The game was a little disappointing, and we ended up leaving after the third quarter was over because we were all rather tired. Mom and Dad headed back home and I worked on graphics stuff for a while. Went out and got supper at Fazoli’s with Jessica and Sabra and some aloe vera lotion because I was expecting my sunburn to be really bad, but it turned out to be okay without it. I went to bed early because I was really tired from the night before, so I nabbed about ten and a half hours of sleep before church in the morning. I think I worked on my graphics stuff for the rest of Sunday, then went to bed around 5:00 and woke up around 10:30. All of yesterday was spent working on graphics. It’s definitey time for bed.
